One of my clients recently had an awesome result from hosting audio events, securing $10k from closing 2 new client on the back of their event.
Weirdly, this event only had 15 people show up, despite that, every single one of them was an ideal client. We often think that big numbers equals big success, but the truth is, if you want work with a handful of perfect fit clients, rather than getting sucked into appealing to the masses, you just need to engage the people who’ll pay you.
My client did this, got 15 people to join the audio and within 7 days had signed two of the attendees to his $5k programme.
In this article, I’m going to give you some guidance on how to do this too.

So, let’s get into it….
Start with the end in mind
If you want to use audio events to sell, you need to think about the end before you launch your audio event. Many will launch an audio event with the hope or wish to generate leads only to find at the end of the event, they get zero leads.
What are you selling?
Who do you want to join?
What are their pain points?
What do they really want to achieve?
If you don’t focus on what your audience wants and how that connects to your offer, you can’t attract people who need and WANT what you sell.
What are the 3 big ideas, tips or tricks that will massively help them?
Huge tip here…. The best events focus more on the wants and desires rather than the pain points.
By all means include them, but don’t let your pain points dominate your event.
Now here is the kicker, don’t stress so much about how much or how little value you should share. It’s easy to tie yourself up in knots, over-think it and the result is you do what too many social sellers do… big promises and little value.
If you’re worried about giving too much and people not needing your help, remember, every bit of knowledge you have is already online. Are you selling information or transformation?
In other words, information isn’t valuable, expertise and certainty in achieving a transformation is where your value rests. People need you, not for information, they need you to help them achieve transformation.
Focus on delivering a very specific piece of value in your audio event. Don’t try to solve the big problem, you don’t have time for that, pick a small part of what you do and massively deliver value in that specific narrow area.
Success hinges on the title
The title does 90% of the selling. The title is why people sign up and show up. Make your title punchy, make the benefit obvious, use the title to attract people who want a specific outcome or result.
Don’t assume your audience will give you the benefit of the doubt, you may have seconds to persuade them to sign up. If you help people get clear on their plans, give them something practical that will help them, but speak to the outcome they really want.
I can’t emphasise enough how much the title makes the event successful. You can spend a ton of time creating the content and preparing for the audio event, but ultimately it will fail if you don’t make the title compelling enough.
My best titles are always:
Outcome focused - the end result is clear
Practical - something people can implement
Is short and to the point ( less than 10 words)
The title should bring people who need or desire the outcome of the title. If the title is clear, it’s obvious why someone showed up.
If someone signs up for my event “How to make £10k a month from audio events”, I can infer that:
They’re not making £10k a month from audio events right now
They really want to make £10k from audio events
The title attracts the people who need me.
Driving sign ups
If you want sign ups, the title will be the key to success, but here are some other things you can do to get people to sign up:
Send messages to your network sending them the link to the invite
Invite people using the quick invite function on the event
Repost your event into groups and ask if people want to join
Retaining the audience
Once you go live with your audio event, you need to keep the audience engaged and excited to be joining.
As you get going you need to set the expectation. Tell the audience exactly what they will gain from your event. Be bold and be excited. Your audience will vote with their feet, if they get bored they will leave.
You’re job is to make sure they don’t get bored and stay excited.
You’re going to share 3 big ideas in this event, so at the front end, tell them exactly what you will cover and how that will directly benefit their work, life or business.
Divide your time up into 3 sections, so you can structure your discussion. I’d also recommend not inviting questions until you have set the stage, this is typically 5 or so minutes into the event.
You want to tell them up front and continually remind them off it whilst you are presenting. Every 10 minutes you want to be making sure that you are delivering the promised value, speaking to the outcomes they want and reminding them of the impact this will make.
During the first few minutes as people are arriving, this is your shot at helping them see the real value of sticking around.
If you see the attendees drop, change pace. Move more upbeat.
Don’t leave your CTA to the end
It’s all too easy to dig into the value and leave your Call-to-action until the last minute. That’s a huge mistake. In our paid section this week, I give you the exact structure to run your audio event that drives leads to your inbox.
You should be driving leads to your inbox all the way through, it takes practice and having a clear formula in how to do it.
